About this opportunity:
The Sr. Advisor, SCM Upstream is responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans and sourcing initiatives for their category portfolio, aiming to reduce total cost of ownership and add new value for stakeholders. They collaborate with SCM partners to optimize procurement of Chemicals, Lubricants & Fuels, provide expert guidance to other advisors, and manage strategic planning and budgeting to secure supply while mitigating risks. They ensure business is conducted with qualified, safe suppliers, and that sourcing and contracting improve organizational value. Additionally, they maintain accurate data, ensure compliance with business rules and policies, and foster cross-team collaboration and a high-performance culture. Key partnerships include various internal teams and external suppliers.
What you’ll do:
Provide inputs for enterprise-wide sourcing project assessments and prioritize based on a five-year cycle.
Stay up to date with industry and market trends to proactively identify and mitigate risk, including but not limited to supply (incl. secondary and tertiary impacts from base chemical components), logistics, storage, etc.
Evaluate trade-offs of multiple strategies and present recommendations to drive category value.
Maintain comprehensive market knowledge and balance SCM resources to meet enterprise requirements.
Drive accuracy in SCM risk assessments and market intelligence, while sharing industry trends.
Create positive relationships with suppliers and ensure they meet safety and qualification standards.
Establish and maintain supplier performance management practices to optimize service outcomes.
Oversee development of sourcing strategies, contract negotiations, and drafting to improve competitive advantage.
Ensure sourcing strategies support business objectives and efficient procurement practices.
Develop bid evaluation models and guide negotiation strategies to achieve business benefits.
Ensure contracts reflect negotiated outcomes and facilitate smooth transitions to category management.
Advocate for the use of surplus materials and ensure critical spares are available near execution sites.
Ensure procurement activities follow approved channels to minimize transaction costs.
Identify and manage supply chain risks, using analytics to support data aggregation and spend analysis.
Advance the capture and utilization of market, spend, and performance analytics for informed decision-making.
Develop and maintain SCM dashboards, ensuring data integrity and effective reporting.
Support teams in maintaining category knowledge, driving data-based decisions, and fostering inclusion and diversity. Ensure compliance with company policies, provide necessary training, and champion continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide pricing inputs for multi-year budgeting cycle based on supplier cost models and impact of external market factors
Who you are:
Legally entitled to work in Canada.
8+ years in strategic sourcing and procurement, with a preference for progressively senior roles.
Post-secondary degree in business or equivalent.
SCMP is an asset.
Experience in upstream and downstream oil and gas, including alternate contracting models and low-cost sourcing.
Proven leadership in managing high-performance teams.
Strong negotiation skills for complex situations.
Expertise in sourcing, outsourcing, and multi-sourcing delivery models.
Skilled in category management and leading cross-functional teams.
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent presentation and communication abilities.
Strong financial acumen
Experience in chemicals category management would be considered an asset
