Responsibilities
WHAT YOU'LL DO
The primary role of the newly created position of Health & Safety Supervisor is to promote a safe and healthy workplace. The goal is to develop a safety culture for the facility and ensure that all employees understand that all accidents and injuries are preventable. The Health & Safety Supervisor will achieve this goal by being present in the field to mentor, coach and train employees to work safely. Make safety contacts each day with different employees to understand the challenges or obstacles they may face during their day. Develop safe procedures to overcome these obstacles and challenges.
Job Responsibilities
Promote a safety culture among employees Coach, mentor and train employees how to work safely Review current SOPs, ensuring they are compliance and meet the safety standards Conduct safety inspections and audits regularly Ensure compliance with current safety work procedures Respond to employee concerns and inquiries Assist in creating, developing and delivering safety awareness program/campaign Assist in developing a Rail safety training program Participate in safety meetings Assist in accident/incident investigations Assist in developing and updating safety manuals and policies Obtain an Advanced OFA certificate (previously OFA Level 3) Maintain details of all safety related issuesQualifications
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Valid driver’s license. Advanced OFA certificate Certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent. High-level understanding of occupational hygiene concepts and principals for oversight purposes. High-level understanding of fleet and driver safety programs. Education, training or experience specifically related to supervision, auditing, and event analysis. Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, training and coaching/mentoring skills. Demonstrated ability to be innovative, strategic, initiate and lead change, work collaboratively, negotiate, influence, facilitate, solve problems, make decisions, work independently, prioritize, and deliver results. Proven interpersonal, communication, writing and digital literacy.ABOUT YOU
