Job Description

The successful candidate will provide Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing care to adult inpatient Psychiatry patients in a 21 bed general psychiatric unit with a 8 bed Constant Observation Unit.  The RPN is responsible for delivering patient care to individuals who are depressed, suicidal, psychotic and/or have severe personality and behavioural disorders.

Your skills include the ability to make behavioral observations, mental status, medication administration and physical assessments, monitoring patient’s response to pharmaceutical care interventions, documentation and ongoing communication with other team members and charge nurses


Qualifications

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire
  • CPI certification required
  • 1 year minimum acute adult mental health experience required
  • Must possess a strong understanding of psychopharmacology
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing, addiction issues and risk assessments
  • Must possess good assessment and crisis intervention, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to perform well in stressful situations and problem solve.
  • Good team player
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record
  • Must be physically able to do the job, which involves heavy lifting and intensive physical effort

The ideal candidate is strong in patient centered care in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and should be ready to drive change and innovation. We require a person with good communication skills with a clear patient focus with the ability to manage execution and to foster teamwork and cooperation.

 



Additional Information

Hours: Various rotating 12 hour shifts - Days & Nights; 0730-1930 and 1930-0730 (Hours subject to change based on operational requirements)

Salary: $33.260 to $35.970 per hour
