Position Overview
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an opening for a dynamic Intern in our growing Canadian group. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, hydro and dams and materials disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.
District Overview
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design-Build team is driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects. Through our integrated design and construction approach, our multi-disciplinary team works together to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk. Our construction-focused engineers work collaboratively with our estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and designed with a focus on safety. Clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk. We are an in-house resource that supports projects throughout the company. Our staff shares experiences gained, innovative concepts, and best practices for all projects that we support.

The location for this Internship will be Burnaby, BC.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Discipline Leads and Engineers
Support pursuit and project civil/structural/roadway/hydro and dam engineering design work by Producing simple design calculations and analyses Participating in the development of design deliverables, including collaborating with engineers and designers/drafters Support the development of the multidisciplinary engineering team by Building internal tools and processes Developing design tools and standards with our engineers Gathering market intelligence
Qualifications
Pursuing a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related degree Be available for full-time work for a 12-month internship period (September 2024-August 2025) Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel Strong work ethic - willing to do what it takes to get the job done. Good written and verbal communication skills Be willing to fully participate in job assignments at the job site, district office or department to which the intern is assigned. Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment. Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.Functional knowledge of French (written and verbal) is considered as an asset since mobility across provinces in Canada is required.

• Work productively and meet deadlines timely
• Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
• Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
• Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
• May work at various different locations and conditions may vary Base Compensation: $22 - $27
