Job Description

Renal Technologist areas of work include in- center hemodialysis Oakville, hemodialysis satellites, off site locations where hemodialysis is provided and Independent Dialysis. The Renal Technologists is primarily responsible for maintenance and repair of all dialysis equipment and water treatment systems to meet applicable CSA standards as well as maintaining accurate documentation of this work. In addition, the Renal Technologist provides technical training and education to clinical staff, provides technical expertise in equipment acquisition related to the renal operation, and ensures all equipment is operated/maintained to meet government regulations and manufacturers specifications As a health care professional with a strong focus on patient safety, the Renal Technologist works effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure that the devices and methods used for patient treatment are safe, effective, and in accordance with accepted standards. The Renal Technologist has an ongoing commitment to maintain competence in the technical aspects of the nephrology field and an appreciation for the impact on clinical care. This position may require extensive travel.

Qualifications

Dialysis Technology Graduate or Biomedical Electronics Technologist or BSc (Chemistry or Physics) required. Two or more years of relevant experience required Technical competency in instrumentation, hydraulics and operation of personal computers required Ability to perform in a patient-focused interdisciplinary team environment with minimal supervision Knowledge of sterile/aseptic technique. Experience in the service and maintenance of Fresenius 5008 and Gambro AK98 dialysis equipment preferred Valid Ontario driver's license Demonstrated effective problem solving and analytical skills Demonstrated experience working as a flexible and reliable member of a team Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Must be physically able to perform the essential duties of the job. Satisfactory employment record and good attendance record.

Additional Information

Hours:  Monday to Sunday, various rotating; Days; 8, 10 and 12 hour shifts, on-call (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs).
