Closing Date (MM/DD/YYYY): 09/02/2024
Are we right for you...
We’re passionate about people and creating sustainable, safe and affordable solutions to BC. We are an organization that has a People First approach and considers people first in every business decision that we make. We are part of the solution and what we do matters; from fighting climate change with battery electric buses, to affordability through cost effective transportation, to connecting remote communities, we bring the heart, soul and innovation to public transportation.
It’s an exciting time to be in the transit industry and we’re looking for creative and passionate people to join our team. Not only would you be joining an engaged organization, but you’d also get to enjoy flexible work arrangements, extended benefits and a pension plan as just a few of the benefits BC Transit employees are eligible for. Keep reading to find out if this role is meant for you
What you'll be doing...The primary role of the Enterprise Data & Analytics team is to ensure the ongoing quality and integrity of BC Transit’s most critical data assets, helping our business make data informed decisions with 100% confidence. To support our small team, the Data Analyst is involved in every aspect of the data lifecycle, from data management and data engineering practices, to stewardship, analytics and reporting.
We work in sprints so a typical day for you could start off by connecting with the team at a morning standup, sharing how the week is going for you and making sure we’re moving forward as a team. After that you could end up in a deep exploration of ridership data, or bus telemetry data with SQL. Or you could end up writing data engineering and QA pipelines in python, extracting and transforming data from our battery electric buses on its way to one of our Data Lakehouses.
In the afternoon we’ll start planning the next sprint and having technical discussions on how best to design and architect our data solutions, manage data as an enterprise asset, and drive value for the people who ultimately ride our buses. Finally, you’ll wrap up the day working in PowerBI to model and visualize our data so that it brings value to our business stakeholders.
Along the way you’ll play a key role in shaping data culture, applying data product thinking and supporting key decisions with real impact to the lives of people in the communities we serve.
For additional information about the full accountabilities of this position please review the IT Data Analyst Job Description.
