Description

:Historical overview of the main techniques of qualitative inquiry and the major research paradigms. Introduction to the different approaches and the iterative principle of qualitative research. Practical introduction to the most common data production methods, their organization and preliminary analysis: interview, observation, document and media analysis, etc. Particular attention will be paid to the criteria of rigor in qualitative research, ethical issues and the reflexivity of the researcher.

Requirements:

Requirements: M.A. in sociology and completed sociology Ph.D. coursework or a more advanced training in sociology. Demonstrable track record of expertise in the field of qualitative studies in the form of previous teaching experience in the same or similar course or through publications in the field. Demonstrate a practical knowledge of NVivo and the ability to teach it. In conformity with article 5.7.1b of the Collective Agreement, in the case of a candidate who does not meet these requirements, the department reserves the right not to classify him/her in at least category A (see article 5.7.2) even if he/she has previously taught the course in question as regular part-time academic staff.
