About the role

Hybrid Field Service Technician II / Hazardous Waste Technician II

Covanta is seeking a skilled and experienced Hybrid Field Service Technician II / Hazardous Waste Technician II to join our team. The successful candidate will have completed CES Field Services Technician I training or possess equivalent experience. The primary responsibility of this role is the clean-up and transportation of both Hazardous and Non-Hazardous waste. The Field Service Technician / Hazardous Waste Technician II will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper identification, treatment, and processing of waste, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities:

Drive a commercial vehicle to safely pick up and transport waste to designated locations, ensuring compliance with scheduled appointments, and following all TDG and relevant regulations.

Inspect truck equipment and supplies, including tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water. Secure cargo prior to and during transport.

Lead a team on small daily confined space projects, communicating effectively with the Hazardous Materials Supervisor and onsite customers.

Work daily in confined spaces, utilizing various tools such as mechanics, industrial hygiene instrumentation, pneumatic and electrical tools, and others as needed.

Operate a variety of equipment, including but not limited to pressure washers, hand trucks, forklifts, power tools, hydro blast equipment, skid loader, specialty vacuum equipment, etc., with minimal direct supervision.

Perform hazardous and non-hazardous waste treatment methods and processes.

Perform or coordinate sampling, lab analysis, and data entry as required.

Requirements:

Completed CES Field Services Technician I training or equivalent experience.

1-2 years of experience required, preferably in environmental services

Valid Class G Drivers License at a minimum.

Ability to work with minimal supervision while adhering to company policies, OHSA requirements, and all local, provincial, and federal laws.

Motor Vehicle Report, previous employment, and criminal history records review.

Travel up to 25% of the time

Ability to lift/move 50+ lbs

High School diploma required
