Position Overview
Within the new Transitional Care Unit, the major focus of the Recreation Technician role is to provide recreational activities, to enhance the quality of life for our patients. As part of the multidisciplinary rehabilitation team through a collaborative and purposeful process, the recreation technician offers recreation and leisure assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation to achieve individual goals. The professional uses meaningful recreation and leisure education, counselling and experiences to promote, restore, rehabilitate, and/or maintain quality of life and well-being. Collaborate with Occupational Therapist, the technician supports the development of strengths while addressing social, emotional, physical, spiritual and cognitive needs.
For Inpatient units: mostly complex continuing care and ALC unit

What we are looking for
- College degree in Recreation and leisure studies or related field
- Registered member of Therapeutic Recreation Ontario
- 1 year of experience working with the elderly
- Relevant health care experience
- Valid certificate in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Basic computer skills
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare professionals in both languages, English and French
- Creativity in designing and implementing recreational activities tailored to patients' needs
- Understanding of therapeutic techniques and the ability to adapt recreational activities to accommodate patients with varying physical and cognitive abilities.
- Experience in leading groups
- Excellent customer service
