Position Overview

Performs direct and indirect patient care activities and non-patient care activities that are delegated and supervised by the SLP/Audiologist responsible for the care of the patient(s).

Experience

Previous experience in Communication Disorders (Speech Pathology/Audiology) preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required. Successful completion of a recognized academic Rehabilitation Assistant Program [not limited to but including the 10 month Winnipeg Technical College Rehab Assistant Program] required.

Qualifications and Skills

Basic computer skills required. Must be fluent in both oral and written English communication. Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values. Excellent interpersonal skills with people in a variety of settings.

Physical Requirements

May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, radiation, toxic materials, noise, allergens, physical and emotional stress, etc.. May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients/staff/visitors. Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
