Reporting to the Associate Vice Provost, Human Development and Potential, the Director leads the implementation of Sheridan's strategic S-Sense, a new signature learning experience for all students that focuses on the development of their inner capacities related to self-awareness, resilience, and agility. The Director advances the implementation of its creative cultural engagement initiatives, including pilots, in support of S-Sense’s vision to amplify Sheridan as a differentiating leader of human potential. To do so, the incumbent provides expertise in the form of disciplinary acumen and experience, analysis, recommendations, thought leadership, and action plans; and fosters meaningful integration of S-Sense within Sheridan's existing Faculty, Student Affairs, and Student Experience strengths. With a core team and in collaboration with institutional stakeholders, examples include: overseeing the design and delivery (including content) of all S-Sense learning experiences and tools (e.g., technological, etc.,) for all learners, including students, faculty, and staff; the design and refinement of the implementation trajectory of S-Sense; the implementation of S-Sense within Sheridan's Faculties in nuanced ways that provide a strong, stakeholder-driven threading of S-Sense within their teaching and learning cultures, augmenting their disciplinary strengths and competencies; the integration of S-Sense within student success and experience development frameworks and services to foster a wholistic and seamless learning and professional development model for students (i.e., career catalysts, leadership, academic preparedness, intercultural competencies, etc); the structured reviews of S-Sense implementation, including its pilots, to support ongoing monitoring, analysis, review, and refinement of the S-Sense Programme; the mobilizing of partner stakeholder relationships, liaising key leaders within the academic, student success and experience, and faculty and staff professional development divisions to meet implementation outcomes. The Director also supports the AVP, Human Development and Potential on meaningful community and advancement opportunities.


What You’ll Be Doing

Strategic collaborative leadership, design, and support for S-Sense implementation, program development, learning experiences, content, piloting, new course and curriculum alignments, and communication; Strategic leadership of direct report(s) and indirect report(s); Developing, guiding and empowering a diverse and capable team to support objectives; Optimizing individual and team performance through effective hiring, development, workflow/goal setting, engagement, ongoing performance management (including discipline and grievances); Fostering a safe, respectful, supportive and participative work environment in which fair employment practices extend to all members of the diverse Sheridan community; Overseeing integration of S-Sense within the fabric academic and service divisions of the College; Leading S-Sense review and co-creative activities (leading and participating in stakeholder engagement, reporting, and review process; contributes to management of recommendation execution; Leading, supporting, implementing and/or serves as liaison for other S-Sense initiatives and projects; Performing other related duties, as assigned.

The successful candidate will also possess the following qualifications:

Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, including Education, Psychology, Sociology. Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline (preferred) 9 years of academic programming experience in a post-secondary setting, including leadership experience (e.g. Director, Coordinator, Chair, Associate Dean) Teaching experience in post-secondary environment is preferred Knowledge of post-secondary environment, college structures, systems programs, Faculty priorities, and College policies and procedures will be considered an assets
