Job Description

Arcadis Global Architecture & Urbanism Division combines the expertise of IBIs Buildings and Placemaking practice, our Places capabilities, and CRTKLs multi-sector design leadership to offer a diverse range of solutions focusing on human-centric design, sustainability, and technology.

Arcadis is looking for a talented Senior Urban Designer to join us full-time at our Placemaking Studio in Ottawa. As our Senior Urban Designer, you will also work with senior leadership to grow the Placemaking practice in Ottawa. As a leader and mentor to junior team members, you will be instrumental in the design and implementation of a diverse range of projects ranging from neighborhood master plans, smart cities, urban design, TOD, transit planning, streetscape design, parks, residential development, resorts amongst others for public and private sector clients. You will also collaborate with our Toronto team of urban designers, landscape architects and planning professionals on local and international projects of various scales.

As part of the Placemaking team, you will be immersed in a fast-paced dynamic environment creating contemporary, inclusive, responsive, sustainable public and private high-quality spaces. You will be involved in all phases of the project from the master planning, consultation and conceptual design through to detailed design. You will surely thrive at Arcadis and expand your experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams and balancing innovation and design excellence with desirable outcomes for our clients and their communities.

Role Accountabilities:  

Lead and collaborate with senior leadership through responding and developing the creative content for RFP responses, and supportingrelevant marketing and business development initiatives CollaboratewithandmentorJunior Urban Designers / Planners / Landscape Architects on a variety of private and public sector urban design, landscape architecture, master planning and planning projects Independentlymanageand lead multi-disciplinary teams and assist with project completion from initial proposal compilation to detailed design and report delivery Developmasterplans, site plans, built formand massing for a variety of projects ranging in complexity, scope and context Prepareand present high-quality graphic presentations, detailed design schemes and reports Engagewith andmanageClients/Stakeholders and ensuringdeadlines and budgetary constraints are met for all projects Demonstratestrong verbal, written and graphic communication skills andensurethat a high level of professionalism and design excellence are upheld within each project

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience:   

University degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture or Planning 10+ years of experience in Urban Design or related fields in a professional office, withprovenexperience leadingandmanagingmulti-disciplinaryteams Demonstrated success working with public and private sector clientsin Ottawa region. Previous experience working with public sector and IO as Clients will be an asset Professionalregistrationwith OALA or OAA or OPPI Inquisitive and self-motivated individual withstrong leadership andorganizational skills Multi-disciplinary interestsin Urban Design, Landscape Architecture,TransportationPlanning,andUrban /Regional Planningincludinga strong awareness/understandingof current planning and design issuesand trends Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of assisting in the preparation of reports and developing design narratives Independent design capabilities to preparesite plan and master plan concepts Knowledge ofAutoCAD,Revit,Rhino,SketchUp and 3D modelling skills for developing complex urban design conceptsconsidered an asset Strong mentorship capabilities to guide and collaborate withjuniordesigners and professionals Capacity to multi-taskandthrive in a fast-paced environmentwithakeen eye for detail/precision Capacity touphold design excellencein challenging project timeframes and deadlines Proficient inMicrosoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe SuiteInDesign Valid driver's license is considered an asset
