Position Summary
The Canadian Institute for Public Safety Research and Treatment (CIPSRT) is seeking a Clinical Research associate to conduct clinical assessments for a groundbreaking longitudinal research project involving members of the RCMP. As the successful candidate, you will be part of a team in an extraordinary and unprecedented experience in providing support to the RCMP and other public safety personnel.Reporting to the Principal Investigator for the RCMP PTSD Longitudinal Study, the Clinical Research Associate will conduct structured clinical interviews, clinical assessments, and clinical interpretations for study participants. The Clinical Research Associate will also act as a mentor and supervise clinical practicum students conducting structured clinical interviews, clinical assessments, and clinical interpretations for study participants. The successful candidate will participate in various reporting efforts for the research project. Salary commensurate with experience.
All services must be provided within the context of the appropriate regulatory College, as mandated by the University. The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance level as a condition of employment.
The Clinical Research Associate must be aware of, and implement, best practices identified by research and resources, including, but not limited to, the appropriate professional Code of Ethics and Association Practice Guidelines. Position Requirements Position Requirements
The skills associated with this position would typically be obtained through the completion of a Master’s degree in Social Work, Educational Psychology, Counseling Psychology or Clinical Psychology; Registration or ability to be registered to practice with the appropriate professional regulatory body is important. Must currently possess, or receive as a condition of employment if applying from another jurisdiction, Authorized Practice Endorsement; Knowledge of current psychological assessment methods and psychometric assessment tools regarding psychopathy; and, Knowledge of a wide range of psychological disorders and treatment practices such as structured clinical assessments and DSM 5 diagnostic criteria.
A successful candidate will posses:
Knowledge of human nature and interpersonal relations; Knowledge of clinical theories and utility for practice; Knowledge of support services in community settings for information and referral purposes; Knowledge of current practice and recent developments in the field of psychology; Ability to listen attentively to verbal and non-verbal, implicit and explicit, spoken and unspoken messages from client population in order to quickly establish rapport and build trust; Ability to communicate with diverse groups of people; Ability to interact with aggressive and confrontational individuals and to de-escalate crisis situations; Ability to interact with distressed individuals; Ability to present information to groups and communicate ideas in writing with client reports and other projects; Ability to work with evidence-based practices and structured clinical assessments; Ability to work with highly sensitive information in an extremely complex environment; and, Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance level.
