Who are we looking for?
GHD is looking for a Solid Waste Scientist/Engineer (New Grad) to join the Waste Management Group in our Vancouver, British Columbia office. This position is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an established waste management team in Canada working on a variety of environmental compliance projects for municipal, private, and First Nation clients across the province. Hydrogeologic support is also provided internally for a variety of business groups. Estimated 25% of your time will be outside of the office in the field, although this may vary seasonally.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in
Assist project managers with delivery of waste management projects on time and on budget for clients requiring permitting, operations support, detailed design, construction management and inspection, and environmental studies Contribute to the design of landfills, transfer stations, composting facilities and anaerobic digestion facilities, renewable natural gas design and future energy initiatives Aid in preparing technical reports and designs Conduct field activities including environmental monitoring & sample, and construction oversight & inspections Coordinate technical resources and personnel including drafters, 3D designers, GIS and database technicians, chemists, geotechnical engineers, hydrologists, hydrogeologists, biologists, and planners to complete waste facility designs and plans under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers. Effectively communicate with existing and prospective clients Complete quantity take-offs and cost estimates Develop and administer construction contract documents Conduct construction inspections and chair construction progress meetings Complete regulatory conformance reviews Develop studies and designs to support permitting applications under the direction of a senior engineers Participate in liaison with regulators Contribute to proposal preparation and business development activitiesWhat you’ll bring to the team:
Civil or environmental engineer eligible for . registration in BC Valid class 5 drivers' license with driving record in good standing Willingness and ability for overnight travel and to conduct field work, as required Excellent verbal and written communications skills Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, surfer, PCSWMM, HELP will be an asset Knowledge of the BC waste management regulatory regime including the Environmental Management Act, Landfill Criteria for Municipal Solid Waste, Hazardous Waste Regulation, Contaminated Sites Regulation and Water Sustainability Act, and/or strong interest in waste management-
