Commercial Director, Babcock Canada

Babcock Canada Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Babcock International Group. Babcock is a global marine, aviation, nuclear and land systems company, headquartered in London, and active in Canada, UK, Europe, Australasia, Africa, and the Middle East.
In Canada, Babcock works in the Marine sector, and provides critical and complex support to Canada’s submarine fleet. Babcock’s Canadian team is trusted to deliver key naval in-service support for the Royal Canadian Navy. Babcock also operates in the Aviation sector to ensure that the aircrew trainees of their partner nations receive the world’s best flying training. Babcock delivers vital aerial emergency services and are proud to have been selected by the Government of Manitoba to deliver their wildfire suppression services, as well as key components of their critical air ambulance services.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Commercial Director will provide executive leadership for the contracts/commercial function in Canada and lead a team responsible for the full contract life cycle. The Director will provide advice on all contractual matters and give strategic direction for commercial activities and functional initiatives. The Commercial Director will be accountable for managing existing contracts, undertaking negotiations, pricing activities and dynamic contractual risk assessments, along with supporting growth activities.
The ideal candidate will bring a balance of exceptional leadership qualities, critical thinking skills, deep legal and transactional expertise, excellent technical skills, and strong business acumen. The successful candidate will have experience in managing high value, complex contracts. With an in-depth understanding of risk analysis and mitigation and a business-focus, the Director will be a strong negotiator who can balance due diligence while enabling business growth.
As the Commercial Director, you will ensure that the commercial support provided to business leaders shows value and contributes to the overall success of the company. You are detail oriented and an active participant in strategic discussions. You are someone who thrives in a multifaceted and dynamic environment that demands open communication, diplomacy, and teamwork to ensure effective decision-making.
