The Grizzly Paw Brewing Company is a craft brewery and brewpub located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. Situated in the town of Canmore, the Grizzly Paw Pub & Brewing Company has been in operation since 1996. Our brewing operations include a 20,000 square foot landmark brewery, a pub, restaurant, taproom, and event space.

Summary of Position:
Reporting to the Director of Brewery Hospitality, the Taproom Server & Tour Guide is a front line ambassador for the company, often the first and last impression for our guests entering our facilities. This role requires excellent customer service, food & beverage serving, strong administration skills, a passion for details and the ability to make empowered decisions. This position is a dynamic role that will include shifts at both of our Retail outlets - our Tasting Room inside the brewery. Strong relationship skills are required, as this position will interact with all customers and colleagues.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Greet all customers with a smile and be engaged
- Handle the retail sales and ensure accurate inventory practices are followed
- Ensure the retail space is creatively merchandised and well maintained
- Serving food and liquor responsibly, while providing guests with a pleasurable experience.
- Must be knowledgeable in our products as well as our brand, while also having knowledge of our local area
- Stay up to date with all product knowledge and be able to educate all customers on our beer and soda offerings
- Generate internal invoices for brewery sales related to beer, soda, and merchandise
- Provide support for brewery operations when necessary
- Take all inquiries from customers and direct them to the right department/contact
- Assist with hospitality functions as required
- Perform daily tasks such as cleaning, stocking, organizing, ordering and accepting deliveries
- Ensuring safety of our guests by verifying age and identification to responsibly serve liquor
- Ready and willing to work in a service role which may include direct contact with the public and or vendor representatives.
- Follow all required Health, Safety, Prevention & Sanitation procedures at all times
- Provide support and training to colleagues as required
- Maintain proper audit track records, follow company policies & procedures
- Develop and maintain close and effective working relationship with all supporting departments
- Run brewery tours once Cicerone certified and trained
- Consider the environmental impact of all decisions
- Complete other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be 18+ years of age
- 1-2 years’ experience in the retail and/or hospitality industry
- 1-2 years’ food & beverage serving experience preferred
- Hold a valid ProServe certificate as recognized by the AGLC
- Knowledge of the craft beer industry and a passion for all things beer
- Cicerone certification a strong asset. Required for the tour guide work.
- Strong skills with a variety of software programs required; Microsoft Office, TouchBistro, EKOS, etc.
- Education related to hospitality or related discipline a strong asset
- Results oriented with the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure
- Excellent interpersonal skills, sales skills, and strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced atmosphere while providing memorable service to our customers
- Must be comfortable working independently as well as with a team
