Description

We are looking for a KNIFEMAN - Dry End Operator for our Ancaster location. This position will be reporting to the Corrugator Supervisor.

Broad Purpose

To safely operate and maintain the equipment/machinery to produce quality products per company quality policy

General Job Duties:

Communicate with crew re-schedule to be run Program the computer for order sequence Keep machine running to production targets Cut to mark when running pre-print Set additive equipment when required e.g. tear tape, sesame tape Verify dimensions with production copy Fill out production sheets accurately Visually inspect for any non-conformances Perform quality checks before and during runs Perform housekeeping as required ie: clean-up conveyor and rollers Perform cleaning/blow off of the slitter-scorer-knife before PM performed by maintenance mechanic Follow all ISO procedures Reports all problems to your supervisor when they occur Daily clean up and P.M. at end of shift Prepare machine for shift shutdown when required which may require overtime Other sundries duties as assigned by supervisor or lead hand Abide by all rules and regulations of the Company

Safety Responsibility and Accountability:

Follow equipment specific physical lock out tag out procedure Mobile equipment operator to ensure daily operator checklist is completed before use. I.e. Clamp truck, Forklift, Elevated work platforms. Report all hazards / problems to your Supervisor when they occur.

Other available tools are when hazard rating is low.

Pre-use inspection form Use Manager plus and place a work request Use of hazard reporting form Report injury / incident to your Supervisor immediately Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with health and safety act, and Good housekeeping practices. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) – Gloves, sleeves, safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, Hi- viz vest in Shipping/warehouse Abide by all plant rules, safety rules and regulations of the Company Keep fire equipment and exits clear all time Zero Tolerance - Workplace Violence and Harassment: Refer to the policy posted on the H&S board.

Education:

Minimum Grade 10

Basic Math

Essential Skills/Qualifications:

Previous manufacturing experiences an asset

Machine operation skills

Organization skills

Good communication

Flexibility to work rotating shifts

Team Player

Self starter
