Knifeman - Dry End Operator

We are looking for a KNIFEMAN - Dry End Operator for our Ancaster location. This position will be reporting to the Corrugator Supervisor.

**Broad Purpose**:
To safely operate and maintain the equipment/machinery to produce quality products per company quality policy

**General Job Duties**:

- Communicate with crew re-schedule to be run
- Program the computer for order sequence
- Keep machine running to production targets
- Cut to mark when running pre-print
- Set additive equipment when required e.g. tear tape, sesame tape
- Verify dimensions with production copy
- Fill out production sheets accurately
- Visually inspect for any non-conformances
- Perform quality checks before and during runs
- **Perform housekeeping as required ie: clean-up conveyor and rollers**:

- **Perform cleaning/blow off of the slitter-scorer-knife before PM performed by maintenance mechanic**:

- Follow all ISO procedures
- Reports all problems to your supervisor when they occur
- Daily clean up and P.M. at end of shift
- Prepare machine for shift shutdown when required which may require overtime
- Other sundries duties as assigned by supervisor or lead hand
- Abide by all rules and regulations of the Company

**Safety Responsibility and Accountability**:

- Follow equipment specific physical lock out tag out procedure
- Mobile equipment operator to ensure daily operator checklist is completed before use. I.e. Clamp truck, Forklift, Elevated work platforms.
- Report all hazards / problems to your Supervisor when they occur.

Other available tools are when hazard rating is low.
- Pre-use inspection form
- Use Manager plus and place a work request
- Use of hazard reporting form
- Report injury / incident to your Supervisor immediately
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with health and safety act, and Good housekeeping practices.
- Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) - Gloves, sleeves, safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, Hi
- viz vest in Shipping/warehouse
- Abide by all plant rules, safety rules and regulations of the Company
- Keep fire equipment and exits clear all time
- Zero Tolerance - Workplace Violence and Harassment: Refer to the policy posted on the H&S board.

**Education**:
Minimum Grade 10

Basic Math

**Essential Skills/Qualifications**:
Previous manufacturing experiences an asset

Machine operation skills

Organization skills

Good communication

Flexibility to work rotating shifts

Team Player

Self starter
