The South Health Campus is a campus environment and includes inpatient, outpatient and wellness services, as well as prevention and public health learning opportunities for the community. The campus also includes a YMCA and retail services. The SHC has four key pillars of service: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient & Family Centered Care and Innovation. These pillars are guiding the development and delivery of service to all patients and families at SHC. Under the direction of the Unit Manager, the Nurse Clinician in the Day Surgery & short-stay units is responsible for providing clinical support and leadership for the Surgery Program. The Nurse Clinician acts as a clinical expert resource for the multidisciplinary team and is responsible for leading quality improvement initiatives on the unit, as well as assisting with the daily coordination of patient care activities. The Nurse Clinician collaborates with the medical staff, clinical departments, and external clinicians to provide timely and efficient care for patients. The role includes clinical leader/expert, care coordinator, quality improvement leader and champion, and patient and staff educator (orientation) duties. The Nurse Clinician requires an advanced degree in surgical and medical protocols of care to deliver specialized expertise and skills to this patient population. The Nurse Clinician must demonstrate well-developed attention to their professional development.

Description:

As a Nurse Clinician (NC), you will be responsible for the coordination of an interprofessional team, in the provision of quality patient (client, resident) care in order to meet the operational priorities and requirements within a clinical setting. You will use an integrative leadership approach in assisting, planning, implementing and evaluating care needs, while assuming responsibility for staff assignments, patient flow and clinical resources. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

Acute Care hospital Clinical Nurse Educator or Nurse Clinician experience of a minimum of 1 year in surgical services is preferred. Leadership development course completions are preferred. AIW Yellow Belt certification is preferred. Nursing-related quality improvement or committee involvement is preferred. Communication and conflict management course completions are preferred. Nursing preceptorship experience is preferred.
