The Unit Clerk will be working in an outpatient setting in pediatric oncology and hematology unit. The Unit Clerk is responsible for managing the telephones, greeting, and directing visitors, patients, and allied health professionals, and for managing patients through Connect Care. The position is also responsible for relaying information related to admissions, transfers and discharge of patients, booking diagnostic tests, booking appointments and consults. Effective communication skills and able to work within a multidisciplinary team. Communicating with other teams within the Stollery to ensure the family and the patient receive family centered care.

Description:

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Outpatient Connect Care training. One year unit clerk certificate with practicum component from recognized post-secondary institution required. Relevant experience will also be considered. Exceptional communication and organizational skills are essential.
