Position Title: Business Advisor, YMCA Self Employment Program
Terms: Term, Part-Time
Location: Remote & Robert Lee YMCA (955 Burrard Street Vancouver), Vancouver (with regular travel required to work sites across the Lower Mainland)
Hours of Work: 17.5 hours per week
Salary: $27,000 annually
Start Date: July 2024
End Date: March 31, 2027
Reports To: Manager, Self Employment Program
Nature and Scope:
The Business Advisor will support WorkBC clients as they transition towards business launch, providing ongoing 1:1 support over the first 12 months of their start-up period. Working in a team comprising of other Advisors, manager and administrative support, the Business Advisor will be responsible for managing a caseload of clients at different stages of the program, while coaching individuals towards successful outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Recruit, screen, and assess participants for program suitability and eligibility Conduct community outreach and marketing to engage and recruit participants as needed Coach and mentor participants to create an individualized business plan Create, prepare and facilitate small business workshops Facilitate group training/education and networking meetings Research and provide relevant resources customized for each participant Manage participant files/information (electronic and/or hard copy) Maintain detailed case notes Conduct participant follow-up, documentation and reporting Fundraise and support YMCA’s initiatives as needed Other duties as requiredQualifications/Experience:
3-5 years small business experience Bachelor’s Degree in business, education and/or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience Coaching, counselling and/or mentoring education and/or experience Outstanding facilitation experience, with the knowledge, techniques and personality to easily engage participants Knowledge of business trends and community resources Knowledge of WorkBC program policies an asset Strong business writing skills, including experience with business plans and financial projections Excellent communications skills, including verbal and written English Proven competence with administration and reporting Good Microsoft Office skills Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start dateYMCA BC is committed to creating an inclusive, accessible environment where all members of our community feel valued, respected, and supported.
