Position: Chemical Preparation Lab Technician
Location: Ottawa, Ontario

Under the supervision of the Manager, Chemical Preparation Operations; the Chemical Preparation Lab Technician, Level I is responsible for is responsible for preparation of sensor print mixes, stock solutions, or other chemical mixtures for sensor and test card assembly processes.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities

•Produce chemicals mixtures and calibration fluid to be used in manufacturing following standard operating procedures. Observe proper sanitization standards and PPE use while performing tasks.
•Prioritize daily tasks based on necessity and inventory to complete tasks in a timely manner; plan out chemical production to maintain consistent output.
•Keep precise written and electronic quantitative records of mixes produced, following general good documentation protocols.
•Maintain general laboratory cleanliness and organization.
•Maintain daily laboratory instruments, including analytical balances, hotplates, sonicators, micropipettes and a variety of benchtop glassware.
•Support in material verification for new incoming raw materials by running in-house experiments to determine sensor performance.
•Assist in process improvements by participating in experimental trials, following approved experimental protocols.
•Support interdepartmental chemical requests for in-house product testing. Communicate clearly with other departments to determine deadlines.

Qualifications
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

•Technical diploma, or Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience.
•Flexibility to work overtime, on-call and/or on different rotating shifts as required.
•Ability to consistently execute routine, yet detailed chemical preparations.
•Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment while satisfying personal responsibilities.
•Physical:
oManual dexterity.
oAbility to distinguish between colours.
oAbility to lift 10kg to shoulder level for short intervals throughout a work day.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

• Experience in a regulated industry is an asset.
