GENERAL STATEMENT

The contractor will provide athletic therapy services to the Clinic customers as well as assist Centre for Sport and Exercise Education (CSEE) students in their practicum work.

TYPICAL DUTIES Daily assessment and evaluation of an assortment of acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries. Daily development and implementation of individualized rehabilitative / reconditioning programs for all patients who come to the Clinic. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient. Liaise between patients, medical professionals general practitioners/doctors, orthopedic surgeons, therapists) regarding health and return to activity status of patients. This involves ongoing evaluation between all parties involved and in the case of doctors or insurers, culminates in a monthly summary reports. Developing relationships between new clients and the AET Clinic. Provide bi-annual written evaluations to the Chair of Bachelor of Athletic and Exercise Therapy (BAET) for students doing their hands on clinical placement with them. This also involves continuous verbal feedback to students throughout their placement and monthly meetings with each student. Daily on-site clinic maintenance clean treatment areas, properly maintain equipment and modalities). Attends Clinic meetings, and events. Performs other duties similar in scope and complexity. Qualifications Equipment Used Computer Clinic scheduling, accessing client records and assisting students with insurance claims. Clinical Modalities Treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries ultrasound (US), electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), interferential current (IFC), massage, cold packs. Exercise Equipment A variety of reconditioning equipment used to educate patients exercises for their injury rehabilitation. (Exercise balls, free weights, pulley system weights, balance boards etc.).
Independence of Action

Actions Specific to the Contractor Conduct clinical orthopedic assessments on patients referred to the AET Clinic. Develop and implement safe and effective treatment/rehabilitative programs for patients. Mentor/supervision of CSEE students/job-shadow students.
Actions Shared by the Contractor Disciplinary action required for students working in the clinic are to be reported by the contractor and reviewed for discipline as per the College policies, Scheduling modifications need to be discussed with the Manager of the AET Clinic.
Decisions that the Contractor will refer to others Human resource issues/problems are referred to the Manager of the Clinic. Concerns over professional conduct with regards to student therapists are referred to the Manager of the Clinic and Chair of BAET program.
Contractor Payment: Contractor will submit bi-weekly invoices for his or her treatments/services as per payment terms of the AET Clinic.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Athletic Therapist in good standing withthe Canadian Athletic Therapists Association Supporting Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Recommendations Capabilities Must adhere to the Athletic Therapy spectrum of care which includes prevention, assessment, emergency and acute care, rehabilitation, and reconditioning.
