About the Role

As the Coordinator of Admissions & Recruitment for the Preservice Professional Studies (PPS) in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University, this role is pivotal in managing and enhancing the operational and strategic aspects of admissions. You will oversee the evaluation and processing of approximately 1,500 applications annually, ensuring alignment with the Faculty's academic standards and objectives. This position plays a critical role in developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies, directly impacting recruitment efforts and supporting SFU's goals of expanding educational opportunities and fostering community engagement. The role involves close collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Teacher Certification Branch and Teacher Qualification Service, to maintain the integrity and quality of our teacher education programs. Upcoming projects for this role include optimizing online application systems and enhancing data-driven recruitment strategies to meet enrolment objectives effectively. The ideal candidate for the Coordinator of Admissions & Recruitment is a strategic thinker with a robust background in education administration, particularly in admissions or student recruitment. This individual should possess excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills, with a proven ability to manage complex projects and diverse teams. Experience in developing marketing and communication strategies is crucial. The candidate should demonstrate a strong understanding of university policies and a commitment to promoting educational equity. Leadership qualities, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure are essential for driving the program's success and aligning with SFU's strategic goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Education or other relevant discipline and four years of related experience in admissions, student recruitment, academic advising or enrolment management, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Excellent knowledge of the Teacher Certification Branch (TCB) rules and regulations for teacher certification: Essential for ensuring compliance and maintaining the quality and accreditation of our teacher education programs. Proficient in using standard office applications, enterprise-level information systems, and online application systems (e.g., MS Office, FileMaker, SIMS, eTRACS, SurveyMonkey Apply): This is critical for managing the application process efficiently and ensuring data integrity across platforms. Strong ability in developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies is key to effectively promoting the program, reaching prospective students, and enhancing the recruitment process. Outstanding organizational, analytical reasoning and conflict management skills are necessary for managing the complex logistics of admissions and addressing any challenges that arise promptly and effectively. Ability to analyze domestic and international transcripts: Important for accurately assessing applicant qualifications and ensuring they meet the program's rigorous academic standards.
