Our client, a major player in the shipping industry, is looking for an Occupational Industrial Relations Advisor. This is a permanent position, in Hamilton.

Responsibilities:
  • Carry out immediate interventions related to the management of unionized employees.
  • Advise and support the companies we represent in the areas of human resources management and operations.
  • Administer all programs and provisions of the collective agreement, including administrative and disciplinary follow-up.
  • Participate in manpower deployment activities to meet the operational needs of the various stevedoring companies.
  • Conduct grievance and disciplinary investigations
  • Prepare grievance files and participate in related hearings.
  • Ensure the updating of procedures and policies and their dissemination.
  • Provide quality service to all stakeholders.
  • Participate in the committees provided for in the collective agreement.
  • Provide support to other departments as required.

Job Requirements:

  • University degree in Human Resources / Industrial Relations
  • Between 1 and 5 years of experience in human resources / industrial relations
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Very good knowledge of the MS Office suite
  • Possess a vehicle for travel.
  • Experience in the manufacturing and/or union field (asset)
  • Good knowledge of the Canada Labour Code (asset)
  • Professional designation CHRP or CIRC (asset)
