Qualifications
Certification with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS). One year recent related experience in the designated discipline within the last six years, and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Skills & Knowledge
Demonstrated recent working knowledge of the assigned section or sections. Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory procedures, and technical competence to perform tests used in the assigned section of the laboratory, including quality control and safety. Basic awareness of research process. Demonstrates interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment. Basic knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care using point of care instrumentation. Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment and software, including techniques appropriate to the designated area of the laboratory. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Commitment to develop knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments found in the foundational documents – including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study – and how they intersect across the health care system. provides laboratory testing at 31 sites across the lower mainland and central coast of BC, including acute care hospital laboratories and specialty laboratories.
