Summary of Position:

Reporting to the General Manager, and/or designate, this position is responsible for managing and performing supervisory duties and skilled housekeeping laundry and linen services and general housekeeping services for a Seniors Assisted Living Facility, which encompasses resident suites, bathrooms, offices and common areas.

Responsibilities:

Include but not limited to;

Assigns workers their duties and inspects work for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness. Investigates complaints regarding housekeeping service and equipment, and takes corrective action Coordinates work activities among departments Conducts orientation training and in-service training to explain policies, work procedures, and to demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment Inventories stock to ensure adequate supplies Evaluates records to forecast department personnel requirements and schedules shifts as required Makes recommendations to improve service and ensure more efficient operation Performs cleaning duties in cases of emergency or staff shortage Attends staff meetings to discuss company policies and residents complaints Issues supplies and equipment to workers Establishes standards and procedures for work of housekeeping staff Records data regarding work assignments, personnel actions, and prepares periodic reports Screens job applicants, hires new employees, and recommends promotions, transfers and dismissals Complete performance reviews, and recommend actions which may include discipline. Perform related work as required.

Qualifications:

Supervisory experience and knowledge of the job to be performed. Related custodial/maintenance and supervisory courses as applicable. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of resident satisfaction. Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, and supervision. All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.

Ability to motivate, develop and direct people as they work, identifying the best people for the job Obtaining and seeing to the appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials needed to do certain work Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems Ability to provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance Ability to monitor and control resources and oversee the departmental budget
