Lethbridge College’s Centre for Teaching, Learning and Innovation (CTLI) is looking for a Accessibility Services Manager to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Associate Dean, CTLI, this position works with students, faculty, staff, and other members of CTLI to enhance our innovative, human-centred teaching and learning environment.

The Accessibility Services Manager works collaboratively across a range of program and service units to provide vision and leadership in college-wide implementation of supports and accommodations for students with disabilities. This role is pivotal in leading adaptive change and managing transitions as the college continues to evolve its educational approaches and services, which is critical for navigating the complexities of changing educational environments and aligning them with the strategic objectives of the college. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong capabilities in adaptive leadership and change management. This role also requires strong decision-making, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills and the use of flexible approaches to adapt to our clients’ needs and comfort levels.

Department Operations and Strategy Working with the Associate Dean to determine operational and strategic direction for Accessibility Services and Testing Services Collaborating with the Testing Services Coordinator to implement strategy and operations Managing and coordinating Accessibility staff activities Establishing department practices and procedures Data management (accuracy and confidentiality) Identifying and/or facilitating acquisition of required resources Working to resolve interpersonal or situational conflicts between students, staff, faculty, and/or external agencies. Working directly with government to understand reporting requirements and compile and send reports and coordinate student aid/government services and equipment funding
Management Duties Recruiting, hiring, training, and performance evaluations of personnel Establishing and maintaining performance standards of staff Encouraging staff development, leadership opportunities, and participation in appropriate initiatives Delegating case-load to appropriate staff and consulting on escalated cases Maintaining Knowledge and Furthering Awareness Staying up-to-date on psychological, neurological and psychoeducational assessments that create equitable access to post-secondary Providing ongoing information, disability advocacy, and/or advising for staff and students (or prospects) with disabilities Participating in appropriate meetings, professional development, and professional affiliations (e.g., PADRA) Staying abreast of funding programs, legislation, and internal practices/policies that impact students with disabilities Staying current with new learning technologies and delivery models to inform strategy work and technology recommendations for students. Collaborating on new policies and standard operating procedures in relation to accessibility or supporting students with disabilities Engaging with stakeholders within and outside of CTLI to design, develop, and implement strategy around universal design for learning and accessibility
Indigenization and decolonization Collaborates across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes, and support the Niitsitapi Strategy Required Qualifications Masters degree in education, special education and/or a related field (e.g., Counseling, psychology) or a combination of related education and experience Minimum 3-years experience working with students with disabilities Experience and familiarity with types of disabilities, disability assessments, and administration of the assessments that best support specific learning strategies Effective communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to handle challenging situations in a respectful, dignified, and constructive manner Demonstrated leadership and/or supervisory skills which support effective growth, participation, and collaboration in a dynamic team environment Experiments with new approaches, leverages setbacks, and makes realistic assessments of risks and next steps Approaches new tasks with a growth mindset and a willingness to learn from others Shifts easily between two or more activities or sources of information; works on multiple projects simultaneously Strong organizational and self-management skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and attend to detail Evidence of professional development throughout career Demonstrated time management, communication (oral and written), and project management skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
