Duties:

Working under the direction of the Starbucks Supervisor, ensure the Starbucks store operations run effectively and the Starbucks standards of quality and customer service are always upheld. Be responsible for ensuring the daily tasks are completed and hold team accountable for tasks. Ensure provided schedules are followed. If required, call employees in to cover shifts. Orient and train regular and casual staff. Promote a positive culture in the workplace and support a team environment. This is anticipated to be a fast-paced, high-volume operation.

Implement cash handling procedures, operate a POS system, generate and prepare end-of-day financial reports, balance POS at end of shift, troubleshoot issues as required. Ensure reporting is timely and accurate. Ensure the POS system is in working order and issues identified promptly. Prepare bank deposits for shift and order coins as required. Open and close store as required. Participate in year-end inventory counts. Monitor food production, quality, and presentation. Prepare specialty coffee, drink, and food offerings. Ensure a high standard of cleanliness and maintenance of equipment. Identify orders for food products and supplies and place orders when required. Guidelines for merchandising will be provided by Starbucks. Ensure those guidelines are adhered to, the shelves are fully stocked at all times for retail and food sales, and under the direction of the Supervisor, ensure seasonal promotions are executed. Receive merchandise and products. Effectively communicate between shifts to ensure a smooth transition of operations. Answer customer enquiries and concerns, escalating to the Supervisor when appropriate. Must adhere to the Starbucks dress code. Act in the role of Starbucks Supervisor if required. Act as an ambassador for Ancillary Services on campus.

Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 graduation. Current FoodSafe I. Minimum 1 year experience in a specialty coffee shop including barista training. Minimum 1 year in a supervisory role. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

NOTE: successful candidates will be required to pass Starbucks Barista Certification and Lead Barista Certification within the probation or trial period.
