The Chair champions the program andensures student success through instructional and curriculum excellence. As Program champion, the Chair is considereda content expert and is responsible to support program development and growth;high quality and relevant curriculum; industry liaison; program promotionalactivities and identifying and recommending revenue generationopportunities. Striving for academicexcellence, the Chair is also responsible to identify and promote instructorlearning/development opportunities, perform teaching observations, providecoaching and mentoring, and promote the health and the well-being of staff andstudents. The Chair promotes appliedresearch activity within the program through collaboration and participation onrelated projects.

The successful candidate for thisposition will possess leadership skills with a proven track record of successwith students and co-workers. Beinghighly collaborative by nature, comfortable in an environment of change andthoroughly invested in process improvement will be critical to success. Relationship building will be a largecomponent of the position; therefore, being respectful, open-minded andsupportive will also be key.

Key Responsibilities:

Mentors, motivates, coaches and provides guidance toinstructors to ensure instructor excellence within the Program Participates in the recruitment, selection andorientation of the program team dedicated to NAIT’s visions, promises andvalues Works closely with the Department Head to ensure thetimely and effective leadership of the program with a focus on academic staffsupport and student success. Recommends staff development opportunities for theinstructional staff to the Department Head Provides instruction to students and fulfillinstructional responsibilities Encourages and promotes research activities at theProgram level Implements best practices related to curriculummanagement to ensure courses and programs offered are relevant and of thehighest quality Leads the program to meet accreditation standards Leads the Program in striving for continual qualityimprovement Participates in activities that relate to studentrecruitment, retention and program promotion Engages in discussions for fair and equitable programteam workloads and schedules Engages with industry, external stakeholders as wellas other post-secondary institutions for the purpose of ensuring relevancy ofProgram related content and equipment Completes the necessary leadership training asrecommended Someevenings and weekends may be required

Skills & Abilities:

Qualifications:

Related diploma required. Degree preferred Current active license with related regulatory bodyas required Previous leadership/supervisory experience Valid class 5 drivers license required
