Parking Patrol and Investigation Supervisor

As the Parking Patrol & Investigation Supervisor, you will provide excellent service to the citizens of Calgary and support the Parking Patrol & Investigation (PPI) Officers to encourage parking compliance within Calgary communities. In this position, you will respond to difficult and/or escalated complaints from the public for parking issues; this includes meeting with members of the public in areas of concern, investigating and providing expert advice on ticket appeals, as well as private property site visits (advising of signage requirements to meet the bylaw standards) and liaising with other City agencies such as the Calgary Police Service, Community Standards Bylaw, Waste and Recycling, etc., as well as outside agencies such as Alpha House and the Downtown Outreach Addictions Partnership (DOAP) Team. Primary duties include:
Provide support and guidance to Parking Patrol and Investigation Officers in all facets of their position including Photo Enforcement, Dispatch and Call taking and all forms and Modes of Mobile Patrol (Currently including Vehicle, Bike and Foot patrol as well as a support for community and special events). Perform administrative and Human Resources (HR) support to the PPIO unit including scheduling and leave approval, event documentation, equipment maintenance and any other task required to support the Officers in the field. Directly responsible for the training of the PPIO's, which may include hiring decisions, new hire training and certification program, and continual formal skills upgrades and refreshers. Provide ongoing coaching, support, and feedback to PPIO's which may be performed in office or in the field by the assigned supervisor. Provide expert support and direction to members of the public, handling escalated public concerns regarding parking and officer performance. Qualifications A High School Diploma or Equivalency (, GED) and at least 5 years of related parking compliance experience including at least 2 years of supervisory experience OR; A completed2 year diploma with at least 3 years related experience including at least 1 year of supervisory experience. A combination of equivalent education and experience would be considered. A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending. Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required. Experience communicating with the public in a high-pressure environment is required. Experience reading, applying and explaining to others the content of municipal bylaws and/or provincial legislation is required. Experience using Human Resource Management, Computer Aided Dispatch, Push-to-talk and/or Electronic Ticketing Software would be considered an asset. Comprehensive knowledge of applicable parking, traffic, mobility bylaws and legislation would be considered an asset. Formal training in communication, verbal de-escalation and conflict resolution would be considered an asset. Experience managing and working in a unionized environment would be considered an asset. Success in this position requires excellent communications skills, as well as the ability to maintain composure while faced with stressful verbal interaction. Working Conditions: This position is primarily office based but will require long periods of driving and walking in a variety of conditions, including inclement weather and in-close proximity to traffic and other hazards.-
