About the Program

The primary mission of the EPB is to enhance the self-reliance and economic well-being of the community members. To do so, it provides programs and services in areas such as personal finance, entrepreneurship, business development, and economic literacy. The Board also helps community members access job opportunities, develop career skills, and navigate housing and pension matters.

About the Role

General Financial Assistance Advisor : In this role, you would guide community members on various aspects of personal finance, including budgeting, savings, and investments. If you possess some knowledge or experience in financial management, your insights could be highly beneficial to our community. Job Pension Literacy Advisor : This role entails educating community members about the intricacies of job pension plans. If you have personal experience dealing with pension plans or retirement planning, your expertise could be valuable in this capacity. Legal and Financial Advisor (Unofficial) : As a volunteer for this position, you would provide informal guidance on legal and financial matters. Those with an academic background or practical experience in law or finance may find this role particularly suited to their skills. Resume Prep and Review Advisor : This role involves assisting individuals with crafting and refining their resumes. If you have a background in HR or experience in creating and reviewing resumes, your skills would be greatly appreciated here. Human Resources Management and Assistance Advisor : In this role, you would advise community members on HR-related matters. Individuals with exposure to HR practices or have dealt with employee relations could find this role particularly engaging. Interview Prep Advisor : This role requires you to guide individuals through the job interview process. If you have experience in conducting or preparing for interviews, your insights could prove beneficial for community members. Real Estate Market Advisor : In this position, you would provide advice on housing market trends and home buying decisions. If you have personal experience with real estate transactions or a keen interest in the housing market, this role could be a good fit. Realtor Lease Reviewer : This role involves assisting individuals in understanding lease agreements. Those with experience in real estate or contract reviewing could apply their skills effectively here. Investment Advice Advisor : This role involves guiding individuals in making prudent real estate investment decisions. If you have prior experience or interest in real estate investing, your expertise could be invaluable here. Budgeting and Financial Literacy Advisor : This role involves educating individuals on how to manage their finances effectively. If you're skilled in budgeting or have experience in financial planning, this could be a rewarding role for you. Immigration Policy and Procedure Advisor : In this role, you would guide individuals through immigration procedures. Student Loans and Financing Advisor : In this role, you would guide students on managing their loans. Individuals with personal experience in handling student loans or related financial matters could provide beneficial advice to students. External Outreach to Civil and Government Institutional Guidance Advisor : This role involves building relationships with external organizations. If you have experience in public relations or community outreach, your skills could be highly valuable here. Senior Housing Advisor : In this position, you would provide advice on senior housing options. Those with personal experience assisting seniors in housing decisions or working with eldercare could be very effective in this role. Government Assisted Living Advisor : In this role, you would assist individuals in understanding government-assisted living programs. Those with exposure to social services or personal experience navigating these programs could provide valuable guidance. HR and Corporate Exit Advisor : In this role, you would provide advice on HR policies and procedures related to leaving a job. HR Concerns at Work Advisor : This role involves assisting individuals in addressing HR-related issues at work. Individuals with experience in HR or employee relations could bring beneficial perspectives to this role. Real Estate Investment Advisor : This role involves providing advice on real estate investments. Wills and Estates Advisor : This role involves providing guidance on will preparation and estate planning. Individuals with a background or interest in law, particularly in wills and estates, could find this role aligning well with their skills. Even without formal experience, if you have personally navigated the complexities of estate planning or probate process, your insights could be very beneficial. Tax Advisor : In this role, you would assist individuals in understanding and navigating Canadian tax laws and requirements. Those who have personal experience or knowledge of the Canadian tax system, whether from managing their own taxes or studying tax law, could be well-suited to this role.
