POSITION: REGISTERED TECHNOLOGIST II - ULTRASOUND

POSITION SUMMARY: The Registered Technologist in Ultrasound (Sonographer) is responsible for effectively and efficiently performing a variety of procedures requiring independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative in the application of diagnostic ultrasound. They will work together with the Clinical Education Leader regarding the training of student ultrasound technologists.

REPORTS TO: Manager, Medical Imaging

DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible

SALARY: $ to $ per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of a recognized Ultrasound Training Program.
- Registered with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario.
- Registered member of Sonography Canada
- Current CPR Certification
- Training and experience in breast imaging an asset, with willingness to be certified for breast ultrasound.
- Registered member of the American Registry of Diagnostics Medical Sonographers preferred
- Training and experience in sub-specialties an asset

ABILITIES:
- Excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate effectively with clinicians, specialists, patients and colleagues.
- Keen interest in ongoing CME education and an eagerness to learn new ultrasound skills and subspecialties.
- Able to exercise courtesy and understanding in dealing with patients, medical personnel, visitors, other staff and members of other departments
- Demonstrated ability to act quickly and effectively when dealing with emergencies with patients and staff
- Able to recognize and react appropriately, both mentally and physically, to emergent/critical situations, incidents and adverse reactions. This would encompass following Hospital/Departmental policies & procedures, maintaining a calm and professional composure and assuming a leadership role when required to support staff.
- Able to react to unpredictable situations with critically/acutely ill patients having physical limitations, to ensure patient safety.
