Position Summary and Scope of Service:

  • The Autism Senior Tutor provides services in accordance with the “Mission” and “Values” of St.Amant, corporate and program policies and procedures, external legislation and is familiar with and promotes a customer service focus in the provision of services to clients, staff and in other professional relationships.
  • The Autism Senior Tutor works under the immediate supervision of the Behaviour Analyst. As an active team member in the Autism Programs, the Autism Senior Tutor participates in continuous quality improvement activities, including the development, modification and implementation of service and program goals, objectives, policies, procedures and standards.
  • The Autism Senior Tutor uses service evaluation feedback to purposefully and continually strengthen services. The Autism Senior Tutor actively supports all program initiatives designed to strengthen services and program integrity.
  • The Autism Senior Tutor works within the context of the interdisciplinary team to implement direct and mediated models of service. The Autism Senior Tutor supports a client and family-centered approach to service. The Autism Senior Tutor promotes processes which contribute to the development of skills and competencies of clients and their caregivers about applied behaviour analysis intervention. This pertains to all areas of service including assessment, treatment implementation and evaluation.
  • The Autism Senior Tutor performs all duties professionally, ethically and with integrity, and takes personal responsibility for continuous learning to promote current knowledge and best practices. The Autism Senior Tutor participates in staff development opportunities, and maintains continuing education requirements where applicable.

Qualifications: 

Educational:

  • Bachelor degree in Psychology from an accredited university or enrolled in and actively pursuing an undergraduate degree
  • Post-secondary coursework in Applied Behaviour Analysis/Behaviour Modification, equivalent to University of Manitoba Psychology Department course #244 (Principles) and course #245 (Applications) at a minimum
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates (to be obtained within three months of starting the position if not current)
  • Competence in the use of a Microsoft computer platform, with expertise in Excel® databases and graphing
  • Certification as Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA®) preferred
  • Honours degree obtained while conducting behavioural research is an asset

Professional:

  • Fluency in the French language
  • Experience working as an Autism Tutor with children with ASD

Personal: 

  • Ability to identify situations of potential risk for the client or organization and respond appropriately
  • Must be flexible and able to work within a non-conventional schedule and travel when this is of benefit to clients
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviour consistent with the Mission and Values of St.Amant

Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical Care Management:

Consistent with the Mission and Philosophy of St.Amant, the Autism Senior Tutor is responsible for overseeing the provision of services with her/his assigned clients, and ensuring adherence to St.Amant and Program policies and the requirements of her/his professional regulatory body and certification as applicable. 

Duties include:

  • Works within the instructions and training provided by the Autism Consultant at all times
  • Works directly with the clients as prescribed by the Autism Consultant and Scheduling office
  • Communicates information on policies and processes to Autism Tutors and parents
  • Provides written information documenting tasks assigned (e.g. staff and parent overlaps, school meetings) to the supervisors
  • Conducts overlaps to train and support Autism Tutors and parents and communicates frequently with Autism Consultant about their performance
  • Ensures that all procedures are being followed as recommended by the Autism Consultant
  • Ensures that Autism Tutors, families, school/daycare staff, and Autism Consultants' questions are addressed timely
  • Enters client data and graphing as requested
  • Assists Autism Consultants in clinic meetings

Tuteur principal en autisme – Poste désigné bilingue

  • Le tuteur ou la tutrice principale en autisme fournit des services qui correspondent à la mission et aux valeurs de St.Amant, aux politiques et procédures de l'organisation et des programmes et à la législation externe. Cette personne connaît et encourage la pratique qui met l'accent sur le service à la clientèle pour traiter avec les clients, avec le personnel et avec d'autres professionnels.
  • Elle travaille sous la supervision immédiate du conseiller en autisme. Comme membre actif d'une équipe dans les Programmes d'autisme de St.Amant, elle participe aux activités d'amélioration continue de la qualité (ACQ), notamment à l'établissement, à la modification et à la mise en application des buts, objectifs, politiques, procédures et normes des services et des programmes.
  • Elle utilise les commentaires sur l'évaluation des services pour renforcer délibérément et continuellement les services. Elle appuie activement toutes les initiatives destinées à renforcer les services et l'intégrité des programmes.
  • Elle travaille dans le contexte de l'équipe interdisciplinaire pour mettre en oeuvre des modèles de service direct et par médiation. Elle appuie le service axé sur le client et la famille. Elle fait également la promotion des processus qui contribuent au développement des capacités et des compétences des clients et de leurs fournisseurs de soins en matière d'intervention par l'analyse comportementale appliquée. Cela concerne tous les secteurs de service, notamment l'analyse ainsi que la mise en oeuvre et l'évaluation du traitement.

Compétences: 

Scolaires :

  • Baccalauréat en psychologie décerné par une université reconnue ou inscription à un programme de premier cycle et études activement suivies en vue de l'obtention du diplôme
  • Cours de niveau postsecondaire en analyse comportementale appliquée ou modification comportementale équivalant au moins aux cours no 244 (principes) et no 245 (applications) du département de psychologie de l'Université du Manitoba
  • Certificats valides en RCR et en secourisme d'urgence (à obtenir dans les trois mois suivant le début de l'emploi s'ils ne sont pas valides)
  • Compétence dans l'utilisation d'une plateforme informatique Microsoft, et expertise dans les bases de données et fonctions graphiques d'Excel®
  • Accréditation BCaBA® (Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst), de préférence
  • Baccalauréat spécialisé obtenu à l'issue d'un travail de recherche mené dans le domaine comportemental, considéré comme un atout
