Under the direction of the Family Development Supervisor, the Family Life Skills Coach (FLSC) will operate efficiently in accordance with the philosophies, policies, and objectives established by Seabird Island Band Management and within the specifications and regulations of the Community Care Facility Act. The primary goal of the FLSC is to ensure that the families in the family home are supported in developing healthy parenting and other life skills, with attention to children’s needs (helping with homework, structured mealtimes, healthy meals, bedtime routines etc.). The FLSC will ensure strong cultural values and manage programming that builds family bonds and resilience as well as a grounding in culture and community support. Approaches to household chores, shopping and finances will also be modelled. The FLSC will ensure that families are directed to health, healing and other services and programs, and encourage them to make choices that are nurturing to self and family. The Life skills Coach ensures that culture is imbedded in all services.

**WHAT YOU'LL DO**
- Life skills coaching, with unobtrusive yet positive modelling
- Overall leadership in scheduling and managing of household tasks, including but not limited to homework, cooking, cleaning, yard work, home maintenance etc.
- Contribute to managing the family’s daily operating budget (groceries, clothing, or other emergency needs)
- Submitting reports as required monthly, weekly.
- Contribute to ensuring the home meets regulations covering health, fire, and safety requirements.
- Maintain confidential, professional, and accurate documentation.
- Assist with providing crisis support as needed and report immediately.
- Ability to function independently within the framework of a team.
- Must maintain professional conduct, boundaries, and ethical standards with a commitment to the principles and values of the First Nations Communities Empathetic, compassionate, and patient.
- Regularly update client records in Mustimuhw database.
- May be required to work evenings and weekends.
- Always demonstrate maturity and reliability
- Participate in regular team meetings.
- Able to work under pressure.
- Assist with household supervision coverage and safety for clients.
- Plan and participate with clients in social, recreational, and vocational activities.
- Capacity to communicate and uphold clients’ rules, duties, and regulation in a polite but assertive manner.
- Responsible for overseeing all household duties: meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, laundry, sanitizing bedrooms and washrooms, garbage disposal, etc.
- Purchase and maintain inventory of groceries and household supplies.
- Provide coaching and life skills teaching to clients within a residential setting where appropriate.
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your Supervisor, Manager, Director, Executive Director, or Chief & Council.
