Data Center Operations Manager
Our client is a Canadian based company who provide their clients with a range of services, such as: data hosting, cloud computing services, server and node maintenance and node supply.
They are looking for their next Data Center Operations Manager in Grand Falls, NB. This person should be engaged and hands-on. You and your team would be responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the data center. You will ensure that all client requests are complete, and the clients standards and expectations are met by maintaining operations.The position is only open to candidates that are legally entitled to work in Canada and are currently residing in Canada.
What we offer
• 90K – 110K yearly salary
• Monday – Friday (weekends as needed)

What you do

• Run day-to-day tasks and site operations (the facility runs 24/7)
• Work together with operations monitoring center and technical advisors in different countries
• Working in a changing environment and ensure that daily routines and procedures are up to date
• Carry out regular maintenance duties such as hardware upgrades, equipment installations, and cable management to make sure the data center is in best working conditions
• Identify and resolve issues by monitoring the data centers servers, storage systems, networking equipment and power distribution systems
• Respond to alerts and alarms in a timely manner, troubleshoot problems, and find the solution
• Coordinate with vendors and third-party providers for equipment repairs, replacements, and upgrades as necessary
• Ensure that documentation of data center assets, configurations, and procedures are accurate
• Aid in the implementation of new technologies and systems
• Follow the security protocols and best practices to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data stored in the data center
• Make sure that proper security measures for the workplace and the network infrastructure, including collaborating with vendors (security monitoring, cyber security monitoring, physical security to buildings and infrastructure) and public agencies
• Maintain logs for service and maintenance
• Create reports on maintenance, repairs, safety, and other occurrences for management and clients
• Prepare hardware for changing weather conditions
• Mentor and develop the Operations team on site

Who you are
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of experience in data center operations, including hands-on experience with server hardware, networking equipment, cabling, and storage systems
• Experience with electrical troubleshooting, HVAC, plumbing, security, and fire protection
• Understanding of IT systems, data communication equipment and cabling
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues
• Hands-on with entrepreneurial mindset, startup experience is an asset
• Comfortable directing and supporting a team of technicians in a 24/7 operating environment
• Supervisory experience in a critical infrastructure environment/experience in facility management
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Experience in MS Office Suite
• Knowledge of data center best practices, standards, and protocols
• Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and work in physically demanding environments
