Job Description

The carpenter constructs and repairs woodwork andequipment working from blueprints drawings or oral instructions.builds repairs and installs counters cabinets benches partitionsfloors doors building framework and trim using carpenters handtools and power tools. Instals doors and partitions. May buildcabinets and other wooden equipment in carpenter shops usingwoodworking machines such as saws routers drill press etc. Mayinstall items such as hardware locks blinds drapery track and rodsetc. May perform minor plumbing to facilitate counterinstallation.

KeyResponsibilities:

  • Participate in the proper disposal ofhazardous wastes and wastestreaming.

  • Complete dailysafety inspection of the workplace and report any problems to yoursuperior.

  • Perform any otherfunctions which may be assigned from timetotime

  • Work to ensure that theCompany Quality Policy Standards are meet

  • The carpenter reports tothe maintenance supervisor or construction supervisor and throughthem to the maintenance manager.

RequiredQualifications:

  • Hold a license as a carpenter or acombination of training and experience equivalent with goodcommunication skills.

  • Beaware of and conform to the requirements of the O.H.S.A. and theO.B.C.

  • Have at least fiveyears experience at the journeymanlevel.

  • Possessions ofhis/her own set of tools and have a valid drivers license and adependable vehicle to access jobsites.
