People & Culture Assistant Summer Student

We are currently seeking a People & Culture Assistant to join our People & Culture Team for the summer. If you have a passion for providing an exemplary HR experience and want to work in a fast paced environment this opportunity is for you The People & Culture Assistant will work within the People & Culture Department providing both recruitment and administrative support.
Key Responsibilities:
Assists with the recruitment process by creating job postings, scheduling phone, video and in-person interviews with hiring managers; Performs a range of administrative duties often involving material of a confidential nature. Assists with preparing and developing HR correspondence including employment verification letters and other employee correspondence; Acts as a front line resource for all employee inquiries and actively manages the HR mailbox and assigns/forwards correspondence to the appropriate team member; Responsible for the maintenance of employment records in the HRIS, ensuring complete accuracy, confidentiality and compliance with by-laws and other regulatory bodies; Acts as minute taker at Labour Management Committee meetings; Responsible for all HR filing as needed; Participates in the OH&S Committee as the P&C representative; Qualified candidates will posses: A minimum of one year’s post-secondary education in Human Resources or related field of study; One year’s experience in Human Resources; One year’s experience in an office environment; Experience working with Human Resources Information Management Systems and Applicant Tracking Systems; Strong written, oral and presentation communication skills; Demonstrated effective time management and organization skills; Demonstrated ability to act with discretion and maintain confidentiality; Computer literacy in Power Point, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, E-mail and internet applications including Zoom; Proven problem-solving abilities, adaptable, and exercises good judgment. Preference will be given to candidates who also posses: CPHR or working towards designation; Experience within a unionized environment; A second language. A criminal record check is required as a part of this process.
