Cook (full time)
The Prince George Native Friendship Centre (PGNFC) is looking to hire a full time Cook for our Aboriginal Head Start Preschool Program which promotes and teaches the Carrier language and traditions. You will working with a team of Early Childhood Educators and will be reporting to the Program Coordinator.
You will be responsible for preparing a five-week rotating menu for the children that meets the PGNFC Head Start Childcare Planning Protocol and ensure all regulations are met (Licensing, Health Inspections, etc.).
Ideally you will have:
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR
- Up-to-date immunizations or equivalent in accordance with local public health and Child Care Early Years Act
- Current Safe Food Handler Certificate
- Availability requirements: Monday to Friday 30 hours per week
- Knowledge of children's nutritional requirements according to Canada's Food Guide
- Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills with families, staff and Elders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift-up to 20 kg (44 lbs.), and participate in physical activities
- Experience working with First Nations community is considered an asset and understanding and implementation of Canada and Indigenous Food Guides
- Preference will be given to qualified applicants of Indigenous ancestry. In accordance with section 41 of the BC Human Rights Code
- Ability to undergo a successful Criminal Record Check (CRC)
- Salary Range $22.05 to $23.00 per hour
