Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed analysis to support financial accruals or reporting

  • Collaborate with HR Services, Compensation, Operations, and Finance teams to assess pay and tax implications resulting from proposed compensation changes

  • Analyze labor costing to meet department and operational needs

  • Address internal and external payroll inquiries and requests

  • Provide systems support to the payroll operations team

  • Maintain system configurations and assist with system planning and analysis

  • Monitor legislative changes and interpret their impact on payroll processes

  • Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements

  • Maintain accurate records to support payroll and HR functions

  • Educate payroll operations on system changes and functionality

  • Update and maintain SOPs and Work Instructions

  • Conduct audits and support year-end reporting processes

  • Assist with payroll remittances, journal entries, and GL reconciliations

  • Support payroll operations with reporting and adjustments as needed

Qualifications:

  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.

  • Post secondary diploma in Accounting or Business Administration

  • 3-5 years of experience working either in payroll or an analyst role

  • PCP Certification considered an asset

  • Knowledge of incentives administration considered an asset 

  • Good working knowledge of cloud-based payroll and accounting systems, preferably UKG and Vena

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, complex calculations)

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Demonstrated technical and functional expertise in payroll operations or analysis

  • Demonstrated experience with cross-functional collaboration and customer service, and the ability to communicate respectfully

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of payroll regulations, and the ability to interpret legislation and collective agreements
