At **SMS Equipment, **our **Payroll Analyst **is responsible for all activities as they relate to the Company’s payroll system support and configuration, process improvement and compliance, payroll analysis and reporting, and auditing. This position is in **Acheson, AB.**

This position offers a **hybrid **work arrangement.

The salary range for this position is **$65,000 - $75,000.**

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Perform detailed analysis to support financial accruals or reporting.
- Work collaboratively with the HR Services, Compensation, Operations, and Finance teams to confirm pay and tax implications resulting from proposed changes to compensation elements.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries and requests for payroll analytical support.
- Perform routine maintenance of specific system configurations.
- Assist with planning, analysis and report maintenance using the Company accounting solution and ERP, for the purposes of maintaining labour costing tables, updating wage rates and premiums, and workforce budgeting.
- Configure and maintain alerts and BI reports pertinent to payroll analysis within the BI module.
- Monitor the changing legislative and regulatory landscape and interpret and alert leadership about how legislation or policy changes will affect payroll processes or system configurations.
- Complete system configuration changes to comply with compliance requirements.
- Ensure appropriate records are maintained to support Payroll and HR department.
- Create and update SOPs and Work Instructions.
- Complete audits for active employee lists as well as year end reporting audits.
- Assist the Payroll operations team with monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting and adjustments as necessary.
- Assist in annual budget preparation and delivery.

**Qualifications**:

- Good working knowledge of cloud-based payroll and accounting systems, preferably UKG and Vena.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel to include: pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s, complex calculations, quick formatting and short cuts.
- Ability to present analytical findings in a clear, professional, and concise.
- Demonstrated technical and functional expertise in payroll operations or analysis.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of payroll regulations, and the ability to interpret legislation and collective agreements and how they affect system and process configuration.
- PCP Certification considered an asset.
