The Associate Chair will championthe program and ensure student success through instructional and curriculumexcellence. As Program champion, theAssociate Chair is considered a content expert and is responsible to supportprogram development and growth; high quality and relevant curriculum; industryliaison; program promotional activities and identifying and recommendingrevenue generation opportunities. Striving for academic excellence, the Associate Chair is alsoresponsible to identify and promote instructor learning/developmentopportunities, perform teaching observations, provide coaching and mentoring,and promote the health and the well-being of staff and students. The Associate Chair promotes applied researchactivity within the program through collaboration and participation on relatedprojects.

Thesuccessful candidate for this position will possess leadership skills with aproven track record of success with students and co-workers. Being highly collaborative by nature,comfortable in an environment of change and thoroughly invested in processimprovement will be critical to success. Relationship building will be a large component of the position;therefore, being respectful, open-minded and supportive will also be key.

Key Responsibilities:

Mentors,motivates, coaches and provides guidance to instructors to ensure instructorexcellence within the Program Participatesin the recruitment, selection and orientation of instructors dedicated toNAIT’s visions, promises and values Works closelywith school leadership to ensure the timely and effective leadership of theprogram with a focus on academic staff support and student success. Recommendsstaff development opportunities for the instructional staff Providesinstruction to students and fulfills instructional responsibilities Encourages andpromotes research activities at the Program instructional level Implementsbest practices related to curriculum management to ensure courses and programsoffered are relevant and of the highest quality Leads theProgram in striving for continual quality improvement Participatesin activities that relate to student recruitment, retention and programpromotion Engages indiscussions for fair and equitable program instructor workloads and schedulesbased on instructional expertise Engages withindustry, external stakeholders as well as other post-secondary institutionsfor the purpose of ensuring relevancy of Program related content and equipment

Qualifications:

Relateddiploma required. Degree preferred. Previousleadership/supervisory experience Excellentcommunication, interpersonal and team building skills

Applicants witheducation credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentialsevaluated by World Education Services or the International QualificationsAssessment Service (IQAS).
