 Are you the person we are looking for?

We are looking for a technically strong, solid and creative engineering manager with a successful track record of managing a team of skilled, innovative and passionate engineers for creating cutting-edge software solutions for hardware peripherals, including the adaptation of existing drivers for embedded platforms (driver development). You should know driver design, development and deployment inside and out. In this role, you will provide technical leadership to BSP development team, and your team will be responsible for creating software drivers to support next-gen hardware peripherals on some of the most advanced hardware platforms available. You must be someone with ideas and real passion for software delivered to maximize reuse, efficiency, and simplicity. Your work will affect millions of users and be essential to the success of QNX.

Leading this team means you will work in creating breakthrough solutions, robust and scalable services using modern application development techniques, bringing agility and improving engineering practices. Using your extensive knowledge of embedded system and deep system knowledge, you will partner with product managers, architecture teams and customers to discover and deliver the solutions for the problems across multiple industries including our high-profile automotive Tier 1 accounts.

You will:

Set and communicate team objectives, priorities, define workflows and processes based on the product vision and strategy in a fast-paced environment that support the broader organization's goals Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams to deliver high quality and timely products and/or programs, meeting customer requirements Be responsible for managing team of 8-12 members Develop and build the teams: attract, recruit & retain capable talents Be primary accountable for the team's deliverables and outcomes; has an influence via controlling resources and planning Adapt team plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role, and aligned to the broader organization's goals. Create a culture of high-quality delivery by assembling a world-class engineering team, leading it, and designing scalable, sustainable components Nurture and influence the team culture of being customer-centric Possess a zeal for solving customer problems, and cascading the same passion across teams Drive innovation and continual development by empowering the team to enhance their tools, procedures, and culture to keep them agile and inventive Design, guide and vet systems designs within the scope of the broader area, and review code developed by engineers Possess a strong collaborative mindset to work closely with peers in various teams like Product Management, Roadmap development, Operations, Quality and more, to bring diverse viewpoints and goals together Be responsible for developing software under specialized safety standards such as ISO26262, IEC61508 etc. Be responsible for Performance management, Career development and Training needs for team

 Expertise we’re looking for

Bootloader and board bring up knowledge such as u-boot/DRAM controller initialization, system clock configuration, GPIO & pinmux, and power management

Driver development experience for peripherals such as UART, i2c, SPI, CAN, SD, SATA/AHCI, Flash (NAND/NOR), etc.

Strong development experience to form a solid bridge between engineering members and management

Familiarity with developing software according to standards and guidelines such as ISO26262, IEC61508, MISRA-C, etc.

Experience developing and reviewing supporting artifacts such as: requirements documents, architecture documents, high-level and low-level design documents, etc.

A keen ability to help problem solve and identify solutions in complex systems

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience, and must have minimum of 10+ years of experience with a proven track record in techno-managerial roles

7+ years of experience in Unix internals and embedded development experience using C and assembling language

3+ years of experience in a technical leadership role and people management experience

Proficient in embedded operating systems (QNX, Linux, GreenHills, VXworks preferred)

Experience targeting embedded systems on major processor architectures (ARM, x86, PPC, etc.)

Proven track record with complex architectural designs and handling of complex business situations and enterprise level software products

Very good exposure to DevOps concepts and tools, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery

Strategic and Critical thinker to come up with ideas, and has the courage and perseverance to realize it

Experience in working with multi-cultural and multi-locations teams

Additional skills

Ability to handle ambiguity and collaborate across multiple groups and disciplines

Hands on experience in the development of software following either safety standards (ISO26262, IEC61508 etc.) or MIL standards would be a standout skill 

Knowledge of software development processes, standards or guidelines (ASPICE, MISRA) as well as scripting and document generation tools (Python, LaTeX).
