Opportunity

Sault Ste. Marie is inviting applications for a full time permanent General Surgeon to join our current team of five.

Sault Area Hospital (SAH) is a 293 bed facility. SAH oversees a wide scope of surgical services; performing 6000 surgeries per year and operates with 6 ORs daily.

Affiliation with NOSM University provides the opportunity to teach residents and medical students. Faculty appointments and research is supported by the Sault Ste. Marie Academic Medical Association.

License & Eligibility

The candidate must be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or be eligible or licensed to practice medicine independently in Ontario. Please ensure you have had your credentials assessed and have a letter of exam eligibility from the RCPSC prior to application.

Assistance may be provided for those requiring supervision as well as work permit or permanent residency.

Remuneration

Remuneration is attractive and competitive. Call stipends are available with shared call. Northern Specialist Alternate Payment Plan (NSAPP) is enticing for those interested in practicing in Northern Ontario. 

Incentives

The Ministry of Health's Community Assessment Visit Program will assist with costs associated with travel and accommodation expenses to explore the practice opportunity and Sault Ste. Marie. 

The Sault Ste. Marie Physician Recruitment and Retention Program offers a relocation allowance in addition to the Ministry of Health Northern and Rural Recruitment & Retention Initiative of $83,000 over four years.
