Opportunity

Sault Ste. Marie is seeking two full-time FRCP Anesthesiologists to join our group of 8 physicians and 2 Anesthesia Assistants. A fellowship in pain medicine is an asset. 

Our surgical program performs 5200 surgeries per year in services including General, Orthopedic, OB/Gyn, ENT, Plastics, Urology, Ophthalmology and Dental. An Anesthesia Consultation Clinic is in place. On average labour and delivery perform 900 deliveries yearly and there is an active epidural service.

Affiliation with NOSM University provides the opportunity to teach residents and medical students. Faculty appointments are encouraged and research is supported by the Sault Ste. Marie Academic Medical Association.

License & Eligibility

The candidate must be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or be eligible or licensed to practice medicine independently in Ontario. Please ensure you have had your credentials assessed and have a letter of exam eligibility from the RCPSC prior to application.

 Assistance may be provided for those requiring supervision as well as work permit or permanent residency.

Remuneration

Remuneration is attractive and competitive.

Call stipends are available with shared call.

Incentives

The MOH’s Community Assessment Visit Program will assist in expenses incurred for travel and accommodation to explore the practice opportunity and Sault Ste. Marie. 

The SSM Physician Recruitment and Retention Program offers a relocation allowance in addition to the Ministry of Health Northern and Rural Recruitment & Retention Initiative of $83,000 over four years.
