Position Title: Hydrocarbon Accounting Supervisor

Team and Location: Hydrocarbon Accounting – Calgary, AB

Position Summary:

The HCA Supervisor is accountable for the timely and accurate balancing and reconciliation of fuel inventory at business units (BU) in their region. The HCA Supervisor leads a team of Inventory Analysts and Subject Matter Expert (SME) in their region who are responsible for the daily balancing and monthly reconciliation of inventory, correct recording of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), and monthly analysis and reporting of results in the region. The HCA Supervisor is responsible for coaching, mentoring, and developing the members of the team and ensuring team is compliance with processes, systems, tools, and controls set out by the organization. The HCA Supervisor is also responsible for championing continuous improvement culture and enabling team to deliver projects in pursuit of ESSA principles (Eliminate, Simplify, Standardize, Automate). The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Clients in Retail, Commercial, Supply, Risk, IT, Finance, and Shared Services to ensure timely and accurate delivery of HCA services as per HCA Service Level Agreement (SLA).

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership

Reconciliation and Reporting:

Accountable for daily balancing and reconciliation of inventory by BU and by product Accountable for correct recording of Sales, Purchases, and Inventory adjustments and valuation in region Ensure month-end imbalances and shrink are on or below target set by the organization Ensure all required KPI reporting, performance analysis is completed on time and there is a credible “story” behind the numbers that will be shared with respective Clients Develop in-depth knowledge on the Clients and their businesses in the region to ensure team is providing value added analysis and reporting

Continuous Improvement

Monitor performance of processes, tools, and reports in region and identify opportunities for enhancement based on feedback from team and Clients Participate and or lead CI opportunities that benefit all of HCA and or FSS Embrace change and lead through example continually pushing the ‘why’ behind activities and understanding that all processes and system can constantly improve Support the Optimization team in all process and system reviews and improvement opportunities Ensure controls are effective and bring forth changes and or new controls to the Sr. Reporting Analyst role in HCA

Qualifications and Skills:

Post-Secondary Education in Accounting, Finance or Supply Chain Management CPA or SCMP designations or equivalent is required (will consider those enrolled in the program and near completion) Minimum of 5 + years of experience in a fast-paced accounting and or inventory management environment Previous direct / indirect leadership experience would be an asset Extensive knowledge of accounting close requirements including completing tasks by due dates prescribed by corporate Finance each month Working knowledge of corporate ERP (i.e. JD Edwards, SAP) and strong user of EnterpriseOne, DAS, Spreadsheet Server, Power BI, Allegro, OneStream, PDI, Infosys, Titan preferred Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, able to work with and or build advance excel models Able to coach, mentor, and develop staff to achieve career objective Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and well as the ability to thrive in an evolving environment A solid understanding of downstream business and inventory management Ability to develop relationships across divisional lines and to cultivate relationships to build a collaborative approach to decision-making Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills are required for this role
