Graduate Teaching Assistant, (ENVS 401)

Duties and Accountabilities The nature of the work is immediately associated with the delivery of instruction in ENVS 401: Sustainability in Action. Reporting to the ENVS 401 instructor, the TA’s general duties and responsibilities will be to:

Regularly attend and support ENVS 401 classes. Prepare for and instruct tutorials as required. Hold regular office hours each week for consultation with students. Communicate with students about lectures, course content, group project work, assignments, and deliverables. Grade assignments. Participate in discussion forums with students. Help to assist and mentor groups as they develop their project ideas and implement those plans. Prepare and present one to two lectures during the term.

Skills and Abilities

Effective interpersonal and communication skills Excellent computer skills—proficiency with computer applications and software including Microsoft applications, CANVAS, and Zoom; experience with Whiteboard video animations would be considered an asset Ability to support diverse and inclusive classrooms Ability to work independently Strong problem-solving skills Exceptional organizational and time-management skills Proven ability to ensure deadlines are met

Qualifications

Minimum enrollment in a Master or PhD program in SENS Broad background and knowledge in the area of sustainability Current grade point average of 80% or higher Must be located in Saskatoon as the position requires in-person support/attendance Previous teaching assistant experience would be an asset. Master’s students must not be beyond the 3th year of their program PhD students must not be beyond the 5th year of their program
