About the role

Providing strategic regulatory advice to project proponents and staff during all stages of the project life cycle, including planning and feasibility studies, EIA, and post-EIA permitting and compliance. Developing positive relationships with clients, regulators, and colleagues in the context of project delivery. Leading the design and development of environmental assessment reports, including drafting of text, editing of text developed by technical disciplines, and providing senior strategic review of documents. Leading the development of regulatory strategies and integration of EIA within multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, social scientists, engagement professionals inside and outside of Ausenco Organizational leadership in staff allocation, retention ,and recruitment for the delivery of EIA projects across western Canada, and engagement with EIA leaders across Canada. Providing leadership in managing and tracking communication processes between proponents, environmental teams, and regulatory agencies.  Playing an active role in identifying, planning, and executing proposals and other business development opportunities. Assisting in the mentoring, training, and career development of junior to senior staff involved in EIA and permitting work. Providing leadership in implementing Ausenco processes and approaches (e.g., project management, quality and safety programs) to ensure that schedule, safety, cost and quality objectives for project deliverables are achieved. Supporting the governance of and contributing to our Professional Practice Management Plan. Building a community of practice by engaging regulatory experts within Ausenco and attracting new talent to the team. Committing to a high standard of technical excellence and innovation, and inspiring others on the team to do the same via engagement, training, and mentoring.

About you

A university degree, in natural sciences, resource management, engineering, or business. Over 10 years of relevant professional experience in western Canada, including in organizational and project leadership roles. Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental legislation gained through formal studies and practical experience. Direct experience working on major capital projects in Mining, Renewable Energy or Port Sectors will be considered an asset. Experience with a wide range of environmental disciplines (e.g., air quality, noise, surface and groundwater quality, vegetation, wildlife, fish and fish habitat, socio-economics, archaeology). Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing Have a professional designation (e.g. R.P.Bio, P.Eng) or be eligible to obtain one.  High commitment to health and safety.

Salary range : $135K - $160K
