Options Community Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering social services across the Southern Fraser region (Surrey, Delta, White Rock and Langley) from early childhood to seniors. Our comprehensive range of programs and services relies on collaborative relationships with individuals, businesses, community groups and government bodies to create focused, effective and responsive resources for the community.

Position Overview

Join us as an  Early Years Consultant  and be the guiding light for families and child care providers seeking vital information and support. In this dynamic role, you’ll be at the heart of our mission to enhance child care services and community resources, ensuring that every inquiry is met with expertise and care.

Reporting to the Program Manager, our selected candidate will respond to inquiries from families, the child care community, and the public on a wide range of child and family issues. You’ll manage our CCRR lending library, track reservations, and pick up and drop off resources, while also facilitating registration for workshops and training sessions. Your role includes staying updated on child care services and community resources, providing referrals, and assisting in the planning of special events. You’ll handle accounting and cash duties in accordance with our policies and maintain strong communication with both internal staff and external partners.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position will have Early Childhood Care and Education training or a similar combination of education and experience, with a minimum of three years working with young children and their families. A current Level I First Aid Certificate is required, along with basic computer skills, including proficiency in word processing and Excel. The candidate should be responsible, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to multitask, with adequate keyboard skills for routine computer use.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of community development and service delivery, with deep knowledge of child care issues and trends. They will show proven effectiveness in teamwork, excellent communication skills, and the ability to develop program materials. Essential qualities include well-developed planning and organizational skills, a commitment to problem-solving, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines. They should handle sensitive issues with confidentiality, provide objective assessments, respect cultural diversity, and possess a valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle. Proficiency with technical systems and a willingness to learn are also required.

This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
