Apprenticeship Training Program Leading to the Company’s Power Line Technician

Maritime Electric Company, Limited is seeking candidates to participate in an Apprenticeship Training Program leading to a Power Line Technician (PLT) designation.

Candidate Qualifications and Attributes:

Completion of grade 12 Eligibility to obtain a Class 3(A) vehicle license Related industrial or technical experience or Power Line Technician Course is considered an asset A tolerance for working both at heights and outside in all weather conditions English language and math competency An aptitude for using computers and computer applications Excellent interpersonal communication skills and strong problem-solving skills A strong belief in customer service, commitment to safety A team-player attitude Physical assessment required

Candidates will be selected (from internal and/or external posting) for a paid trial period of four weeks to compete for Apprentice positions to take place in the fall. As part of the selection process, applicants will be required to complete an English language and math competency test and demonstrate an aptitude for using computers and computer applications.

Successful candidates will be later enrolled in a four-year Power Line Technician Apprenticeship Designation Program sponsored by Maritime Electric at a rate of pay range $30.00 per hour in year one to $46.29 per hour in year four after Red Seal qualified (2024 rates).
